
All workshops take place on Saturdays at the LRJF Writing Center, 1914 14th Avenue, Vero Beach.
As always, registration for teens is free thanks to a generous grant from Quail Valley Charities. And, don’t forget that participation in our Teen Workshop can earn you entrance to potentially win a $1000 scholarship for which you don’t even have to do an application (as long as you complete the requirements for our Teen Fellow Award!)

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:
“Sewing Clothes for a Mouse: The Art of Creating Characters in Very Short Stories,” a Flash Fiction workshop taught by Sarah Freligh, whose very short stories have been anthologized in New Micro: Exceptionally Short Fiction (Norton 2018), Best Microfiction, and Best Small Fiction.
Very short fiction —stories of fewer than 750 words – is enjoying a literary moment! Flash came of age with the Internet and the subsequent rise of online journals. Participants will come away with three or four flash story drafts.

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this workshop is to help participants discover their unique poetic voice and begin crafting
spoken word pieces. In addition, students will learn to build stage presence, confidence, and performance skills. Finally, the students will cultivate leadership, collaboration, and community impact through spoken word.
Chris Wilks is an Educator, Entrepreneur, Fashion Consultant, Producer & Event Planner, Three-Ringleader, and overall Entertainment Impresario. Member of his poetry slam team have made it to both the team and individual semi-finals of the LTAB-FLA spoken word tournament.
