Dedicated to creating community through the literary arts, the Laura (Riding) Jackson Foundation (LRJF) was formed in 1992 by a small group of passionate preservationists interested in saving the author’s “cracker-style” historic home.
Today, LRJF continues to preserve the home and supports the legacy of Laura (Riding) Jackson by nurturing a passion for the written word through a variety of educational offerings for writers. Writers groups, summer camps, workshops, and poetry festivals offer lifelong learning opportunities for all ages.
The historic home and garden, now located on the campus of Indian River State College in Vero Beach, serves as an example of environmentally sensitive Florida architecture and horticulture and as a valued emblem of Laura’s significant contributions made in a life devoted to language and literature.
