The Night Writers writing group was started in 2023 to meet growing demand for a new group that met exclusively in the evening after traditional 9-5 work hours. It meets Wednesday evenings at the Writing Center, located at 1914 14th Ave. in Vero Beach.
If you are interested in finding out more about our group, please call us at 772-569-6718, email us at admin@lrjf.org, or fill out the interest form.
Please note: participation in our writing groups requires membership in LRJF (Currently $50 a year for individuals and $75 for households). Register for membership here.
Meet Your Facilitator
April Cole
A relatively new member of LRJF, April Cole brings a deep love of language and storytelling to everything she does. Originally from New York, she has called Florida home for the past twenty years.
April earned her degree in English and Creative Writing from Flagler College and taught English at Vero Beach High School before settling into her current role at Indian River Charter High School, where she teaches AICE language arts. In addition to teaching, she serves as the school’s literacy coach, which allows her to harass even more people about reading and writing.
Known for her boundless energy and deep affection for her students, April thrives on the daily joy of discovering what fresh, funny, or profound ideas her classroom will spark.
Outside of school, she can often be found reading or writing in “sunshine time,” and forgetting to make dinner. She finds inspiration and kinship in the Night Writers, a vibrant and eclectic group of fellow creatives, who’ve made Wednesday evenings so much more interesting.
