On Foreign Soil collects seven essays about personal experience far from (or close to) home that changed and widened each author’s perspective on the world and their perception of “foreign” vs. “home.” This anthology is the shared work of several members of the Laura (Riding) Jackson Foundation’s Tuesday Writers group. What brings writers together? Perhaps a shared desire to make the words on the page match the truths in their minds. At first, the group members were strangers. Now, through reading aloud and offering thoughtful feedback, they’ve built trust and a rhythm that helps each of them grow. In this book, they share their writing about living on foreign soil and ask: What defines foreign soil?
